Neuromuscular Surgical Faculty Position - Department of Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital

The Department of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking an academic pediatric orthopedist to join our Neuromuscular Program.

Areas of particular interest include pediatric neuromuscular disorders, including cerebral palsy, spina bifida, and other genetic conditions. The applicant will be experienced in gait analysis and the management of gait abnormalities in children with these conditions. A candidate willing to devote significant time to research efforts to improve the care of children with neuromuscular disorders is preferred.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to be active clinically and to supervise medical students, orthopedic surgery residents, pediatric orthopedic fellows and to see patients in our pediatric orthopedic surgery clinics, including the multidisciplinary neuromuscular clinics. The candidate will also be expected to perform general pediatric orthopedic procedures as well as develop a specialty practice based on the surgical care of neuromuscular patients.

Appointment as an instructor, assistant professor, or associate professor at the Harvard Medical School will be commensurate with experience, training, and achievements in addition to teaching activities.

Requirements

Suitable candidates will have an MD or MD-PhD and be board certified in orthopedic surgery or equivalent training with subspecialty certification in pediatric orthopedic surgery. Must be eligible for licensure without restriction within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. All candidates must have evidence of advanced training in pediatric orthopedics, which in most cases will be completion of an accredited pediatric orthopedics fellowship.
