The Center for Economic and Social Research at the University of Southern California (Dornsife) is looking for a Research Programmer to assist in the data collection efforts of our Understanding America Study. The Understanding America Study (UAS) is a panel of households of approximately 11,000 respondents representing the entire United States.

The Research Programmer will provide programming support for research projects that use the data collected by the UAS. Knowledge of PHP and MYSQL is required. The programmer is an integral part of the research team and works closely with our IT staff and our multidisciplinary research team. The key role of the programmer is to assist with our data visualization efforts. This is a full-time position.

Required Qualifications:

•MS in Computer Science, Statistics, mathematics, or related field

•Experience with PHP and MYSQL (Database management)

•Ability to work independently on complex programming

•Experience with data sets, including location data

Preferred Qualifications:

•Experience with Stata

•Experience with machine learning algorithms

•Experience with large databases and survey data

•Demonstrated creativity and innovation in solving conceptual programming problems

The hourly rate range for this position is $43.53 - $56.31. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

This is a grant funded position.

Minimum Education: Master's degree, Combined work experience and education as equivalent

Minimum Experience: 1 year

Minimum Field of Expertise: Demonstrated creativity and innovation in solving conceptual programming problems. Competent to work independently on complex programming.
