POSITION:
LECTURERS IN SOCIOLOGY: The Department of Sociology, Gerontology and Gender Studies invites applications for a pool of part-time lecturer appointments. Candidates selected will teach one or more courses serving Sociology majors. This position is contingent upon the availability of authorized funding.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Ph.D. in Sociology is required. Other minimum qualifications include: Ability to teach upper-division courses serving majors that address writing proficiency (WP), Sociology Theory (Classical & Modern), Research (Methods & Analysis), and elective courses in the Criminology & Society, Human Services, or Social Justice concentrations.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT and THE COLLEGE:
The Department of Sociology, Gerontology, and Gender Studies serves a diverse student body. The typical major is a first-generation working-class woman of color. The Department prides itself on maintaining rigor and high expectations, while at the same time understanding our majors are "differently prepared" and do not necessarily conform to the typical expectation of college life. Thus, in addition to rigor, we expect the successful applicant to be cognizant of the unique qualities of our students and spend time assessing his/her/their approach to teaching.

The university requires a criminal and/or child abuse background check to be completed for many of its new employees, current employees seeking promotional or transfer opportunities, and current employees assigned new duties. Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment.
