About the Position

The Department of Information Systems, Management and Marketing (IMM) in the W. A. Franke College of Business (FCB) at Northern Arizona University (NAU) in Flagstaff, Arizona invites applications for one career-track (non tenure-track) position to teach in business analytics to begin August 2024.

The Department of Information Systems, Management and Marketing is looking for one career-track faculty member to support its growth in the Business Analytics programs. The department has four undergraduate majors, including Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in Information Systems or Management or Marketing and a Master of Science in Business Analytics graduate program.

Depending on the initial qualification of the candidates, they could be appointed as Assistant Professor of Practice.

Responsibilities Include:

* Teaching courses related to business analytics each of the fall and spring semesters.
* Participating in departmental and college service activities.
* Provide career advisement to students.
* Engage in a program of intellectual activities or professional qualification requirements in accordance with FCB and AACSB guidelines.
* Teach classes in different modalities, including in-person and online.

***This is a 9 month non-tenure track position***

***This position is an *on-site position* which requires the incumbent to complete their work primarily at an NAU site, campus, or facility with or without accommodation. Opportunities for remote work are rare.***

Minimum Qualifications

* Master's degree from an AACSB accredited institution with a concentration in business analytics, information systems, or a related field. The degree must be earned by the starting date of this position.
* Five years of professional experience in business analytics, or information systems related field.
* One semester of teaching experience in business analytics or information systems related courses at the college level. Teaching experience during a degree program is acceptable.
* Ability to meet AACSB academic or professional qualification requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience in teaching one or more of the following:
* A business analytics capstone experience class. In this class, students are encouraged to work in teams with industry partners on a comprehensive business analytics project. This capstone course will require students to identify a business problem and solve it using analytical skills. Other important skills include communication, teamwork, presentation and writing. The instructor of the class is expected to facilitate the whole process to ensure the project is well executed.
* Python programming.
* A specialized business analytics course such as big data, health informatics, applied artificial intelligence and sport analytics.

* Evidence of or potential for excellence in working with multicultural constituencies.
* Three or more years of full-time teaching experience at the college level and/or five or more years professional experience in business analytics or information systems positions.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

* Experience in teaching business analytics or information systems related courses at the college level or graduate level.
* Advisement on student career development.

This is a Faculty (FAC) position. NAU offers an excellent benefit package including generous health, dental and vision insurance; participation in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) or the Optional Retirement Program (ORP); sick leave accruals and 10 holidays per year; and tuition reduction for employees and qualified family members. Employees offered a position will be eligible for state health plans (including NAU's BCBS Plan). Employees will have 31 days from date of hire to enroll in benefits, and their benefits will then be effective the first day of the pay period following their completed enrollment. If a new employee chooses the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) retirement option, participation in the ASRS Plan (and the long-term disability coverage that accompanies it) will begin on the first of the pay period following 183 days of employment. New employees who choose to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP; an alternative to the ASRS plan) will begin to participate on the first day of the pay period following election. The long-term disability plan that accompanies the ORP will begin on the first day of the pay period following election. Pre-Employment Check

Northern Arizona University requires satisfactory results for the following: a criminal background investigation, an employment history verification and a degree verification (in some cases) prior to employment. This report discloses fire safety policies and procedures related to on-campus student housing and statistics for fires that occurred in those facilities. FLSA Status

This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and therefore will not earn overtime or compensatory time for additional time worked.
