1) Registered nurse (R.N.) with possession of a current license to practice nursing in Louisiana. License must be presented to the New Orleans Civil Service Department within two (2) weeks of application.
2) Four(4) years of professional experience in nursing.**
**A Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing may be substituted for two (2) years of the required experience. OFFICIAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT OR DIPLOMA INDICATING MAJOR MUST BE PRESENTED TO THE NEW ORLEANS CIVIL SERVICE DEPARTMENT WITHIN TWO (2) WEEKS OF FILING AN APPLICATION.

The working test (probation) period for most positions in the classified service is six months unless otherwise specified.
