Raymond School DIstrict is seeking a Registered Nurse, RN, to cover for our School Nurse January 2, 2024 through approximately March 4, 2024. This long term position pays $40 per hour. This is a non-benefit position

GENERAL SUMMARY: Oversee the individual health needs of students; implementing health care plans directed by physicians; ensuring district health care practices comply with the laws related to student health issues; Serve as a health care resource to teachers, staff and administrators.

QUALIFICATIONS (SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING REQUIRED):
  • Licensed registered nurse
  • Minimum degree in compliance with the State of New Hampshire Department of Education and RSA 200:29
  • Valid New Hampshire state license as a registered nurse
  • Minimum of three years current experience in pediatric nursing or related nursing area
  • Current CPR/AED certification
  • Knowledge of medical record keeping and filing techniques
  • Knowledge of New Hampshire immunization requirements
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office, School Office Pro, Google docs, SNAP and Powerschool software
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws and regulations such as FERPA and HIPAA; School Board policy; DOE policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of medications and side effects
  • Must function independently and is self directed
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Function in accordance with the rules and regulations of the New Hampshire Nurse Practice Act, New Hampshire State Department of Education and School District policies and procedures
  • Assessment of student and staff health concerns
  • Provides leadership in the planning of proper emergency care in first-aid for sudden illness and accidents incurred during school hours
  • Administering physician/parent approved medications
  • Provide health screenings for students
  • Perform medical procedures
  • Maintains electronic cumulative health records on all students
  • Monitors immunizations, manage communicable diseases and assess school environment to prevent injury and ensure safety
  • Insures submission of all reports relating to the health of children to the State and other appropriate agencies
  • Participates in team meetings for identification of health problems and assists in the development of Individual Education and 504 Plans, when appropriate
  • Acts as a liaison between the family, school, health care professionals and community to improve the holistic health needs of students
  • Oversee infection control measures
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintains all licenses and certifications
  • Understanding of pediatric growth, development and mental health disorders in adolescence
  • Provides individual health consulting and counseling for students
  • Coordinates staff immunization program
  • Upholds regulations and laws related to confidentiality, reporting of child abuse and neglect, and other health-related requirements
  • Actively participates in school safety plans that address school violence, bullying and emergencies that may occur at school
  • Attends committee meetings, nursing conferences and serves on District-wide committees
