Job Overview:

One of the industrys leading global biopharmaceutical companies is currently seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Senior Director/Head of to lead their Neurodegenerative Drug Discovery efforts. This business-critical position involves spearheading neurodegenerative programs from target validation to Investigational New Drug (IND) submission while overseeing a multi-disciplinary research group deploying cutting-edge technologies. The successful candidate will report directly to the site's executive leadership and will play a pivotal role in advancing the research and development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Leadership in Neurodegenerative Programs: Drive the neurodegenerative research programs from target validation through to IND submission, ensuring scientific excellence and timely progress.
  2. Team Leadership: Lead a multi-disciplinary team within the neurology and oncology departments, fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation.
  3. External Collaborations: Oversee several strategic external collaborations, managing relationships with academic institutions, research organizations, and other external partners.
  4. Strategic Partnership Contribution: Play a key role in the partnership with a leading global biopharmaceutical company, contributing to the strategic direction and success of the Drug Discovery department.
  5. Expertise in Neurodegenerative Diseases: Apply in-depth knowledge of neurodegenerative diseases, especially in the context of microglial cells in dementia and Alzheimer's Disease (AD).
  6. Small Molecule Therapeutics and IND Experience: Utilize extensive experience in small molecule drug development and contribute experimental data for IND applications.
  7. Oncology Project Involvement: Participate in oncology-related projects, applying expertise to advance the research portfolio.
  8. Global R&D Collaboration: Work closely with global R&D teams, including international research centers, ensuring alignment of research strategies and goals.

Required Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Neurology, Neurobiology, or other relevant fields.
  • Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in neurology and/or oncology drug discovery and development.
  • Demonstrated track record in leading neurodegenerative research programs and contributing to IND applications.
  • Expertise in small molecule drug discovery research; ideally having contributed to programs that have advanced to the clinic/commercialization
  • Proven ability in managing multidisciplinary teams and external collaborations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with executive leadership and global teams.
