The group includes 3 faculty (Profs. M.B. Gaarde, F. Mauger, and K.J. Schafer) and about twice as many junior members (Students and Postdocs). The selected candidate will participate in theoretical studies of the interactions between molecules and x-ray light, primarily as a means to triggering and observing ultrafast correlated-electron processes in these systems.

The Ultrafast AMO group and the Department of Physics and Astronomy strives to cultivate an inclusive environment that is open, welcoming, and supportive of individuals of all backgrounds (see our statement of principles: https://www.lsu.edu/physics/about/phys_astro_diversity.php). Research (90% effort): The researcher will be primarily responsible for the development and application of large-scale calculations methods to describe the interaction between short x-ray pulses and molecular systems. A Senior Postdoctoral Researcher will also have support for independent research which will be determined by its relationship to currently funded research, as well as its potential for opening new avenues of investigation. Publication, conference, and student supervision (10% effort - both Postdoctoral or Senior Postdoctoral Researchers): Additional duties include assisting in the supervision of graduate and undergraduate work in the Ultrafast AMO Theory group at LSU. The researcher is expected to regularly publish papers in the refereed literature, and to attend at least one professional meeting each year to present the results of this research.
