Job Responsibilities

The GSSM Center for Science Education and Outreach Instructor will develop innovative STEM curriculum and provide high-quality instruction and activities to students and teachers statewide during the school year and summer. This is a multi-faceted position that involves providing instruction, developing curriculum, leading a variety of learning experiences for students and teachers, and providing support to other Outreach Center programs and initiatives.

Responsibilities of the Outreach Instructor:
  • Creating STEM curriculum and instruction that focuses on STEM content mastery, builds real-world connections, and uses learning technologies;
  • Delivering instruction to students and teachers on the GSSM campus and at partner schools across the state;
  • Supporting and coordinating statewide Center for Outreach initiatives and learning experiences that are provided to students and teachers on-site and off-site during the academic year and summer;
  • Collaborating with the Outreach Center team to assess the effectiveness of Outreach programs and/or initiatives;
  • Collaborating with the Outreach Center team to develop new learning opportunities for students and teachers;
  • Communicating regularly progress on programs and/or initiatives to the SVP for Outreach and Global Initiatives; and
  • Performing other duties assigned by the SVP for Outreach and Global Initiatives.
Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelor's degree in science, mathematics, or a related field. An advance degree is preferred. Strong content background in the STEM disciplines and teaching experience at a variety of levels and in various settings. Demonstrated experience with curriculum design, professional development, instructional learning technologies, and virtual instruction as well as demonstrated experience with STEM program development, coordination, and evaluation are preferred.
Additional Requirements:
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to collaborate with administrators, teachers, and parents;
  • Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team; and
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software proficiently.
