Job Description:
The Assistant Director of Global Education for Programs supports the design and execution of short-term study abroad experiences for both credit and non-credit students, with a focus on academic quality and adherence to best practices for health, safety, and risk management. With oversight from the Director of Education Abroad, the position provides holistic leadership for Goucher College's portfolio of non-credit programs directed toward Goucher alumnae/i and members of the local community. A key member of the Office of Global Education team, the Assistant Director also provides support for a range of other initiatives related to student mobility and comprehensive campus internationalization, including but not limited to on-campus programming, virtual exchange, and learning outcomes assessment.

Essential Job Functions:

50% NON-CREDIT SHORT-TERM PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT - With support from the Director of Education Abroad, lead the development of a new portfolio of short-term international mobility programs for Goucher alumnae/i and residents of Edenwald Senior Living - the latter in association with Goucher's University-Based Retirement Community (UBRC) initiative with Edenwald. Conduct and analyze market studies to determine optimal program formats and content. Develop policies and procedures for program development, budget construction, and risk management, and support Goucher faculty with the launch of new programs. Advise program participants through the full program life cycle, from program selection to pre-departure to re-entry. Collaborate with other members of the Office of Global Education team and offices throughout the Goucher campus to create inter-generational program models.

30% INTENSIVE COURSE ABROAD PROGRAM SUPPORT - In close collaboration with the Director of Education Abroad, support the full life cycle of Goucher's short-term faculty-led study abroad programs for degree-seeking undergraduate students (Intensive Courses Abroad, or ICAs). Assist faculty with the program proposal process and with the choice of appropriate provider organizations. Support the design and delivery of risk management workshops for program directors. Assist as needed with program logistics and with student advising and enrollment processes.

20% STRATEGIC AND PROGRAMMATIC SUPPORT - In coordination with the Director of Education Abroad and the AVP for Global, Career, and Community-Based Learning, contribute to the growth and strategic positioning of the Office of Global Education. Duties in this area may include but are not limited to: coordination of on-campus conferences and programs such as International Education Week; design and execution of virtual exchange activities; learning outcomes assessment; cultivation and maintenance of partnerships with international institutions and organizations; and attendance at external conferences and workshops. Some of these duties may require occasional international travel.


Required: Bachelor's degree.

Preferred: Master's degree in international higher education, social sciences, humanities, world languages, business, or a related field.

Professional Experience:

Required: 1 year of previous work experience in instruction, advising, or programming at an institution of higher education or an organization working in the higher education space (e.g., a study abroad provider).

Preferred: 2 years of work experience in international education, preferably related to outbound student mobility programs.
