Objectives of this Role:

  • Support in-lab instrumentation design, testing, and development.
  • Perform SIMION and SRIM simulations to support ongoing and new projects.
  • Collaborate with SwRI diverse research teams and publish in high impact, peer-reviewed journals.

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:

  • Carry out original research in experimental space physics and related data analysis.
  • Support the development, testing, and calibration of instruments to be flown on upcoming heliophysics or planetary missions.
  • Interact with SwRI staff engaged in a broad range of observational, computational, and theoretical research in the physics of the heliosphere.
  • Participate in internal group meetings, present results in relevant conferences, and publish results in peer-reviewed journals.


  • Requires a PhD in Space Physics, Plasma Physics or a related field with related graduate work.
  • 0 years: Experience in designing and operating low energy neutral atom detection systems.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment for particle detection.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.

Special Requirements:

This is a 1 year limited term assignment.
