Responsibilities

The Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Natural Sciences is seeking a professor (W3) of informatics with a focus on software engineering.

Duties include conducting research and teaching in the field of software technology/​software engineering (methods and tools for the development, deployment, and use of software). Possible research foci include development processes, tool-supported analysis and operation of large software systems, design and test processes, software quality, AI engineering, quantum software engineering, empirical and data-driven methods in software engineering, software architecture as well as critical systems. Other focal topics may also be considered.

Participation in the University research areas (core research areas, emerging areas, and profile initiatives) is expected.

In collaboration with the Professorship of Applied Software Technology, the successful applicant will develop the area of complex systems engineering at the Department of Informatics and foster the collaboration with other universities and research institutions in Hamburg. Collaboration on the other department area of Information Governance Technologies, is also sought. The involvement in other University activities particularly in the House of Computing and Data Science (HCDS) is also desired.

Contributions to the degree programs at the department, particularly in undergraduate teaching, is expected. Willingness to teach basic programming and software engineering courses is particularly appreciated. Teaching other courses offered by the department is also expected.

Your profile

We are looking for a candidate with an outstanding academic track record and research experience in the field of the professorship.

In addition to international recognition, applicants are expected to have an excellent track record of publications and projects in the field of software technology/​software engineering with research contributions to at least two specific research foci, which may include other focal topics than those listed above. Applicants should also demonstrate the willingness and ability to collaborate on the research areas of the department and the faculty as well as outside of these institutions, for example in particular application domains.
