Position Summary The Department of Epidemiology in the College of Public Health at the University of Nebraska Medical Center seeks four (4) full-time open-rank 12-month appointment tenure-leading faculty members. The rank could vary from assistant, associate, to full professor (Rank DOQ).We are particularly interested in applicants with research expertise in cancer or infectious diseases epidemiology, although individuals with interests in other areas of epidemiologic research will also be considered. Skills and training in epidemiologic methods, molecular, genetic, social, clinical epidemiology, health disparities, informatics, or implementation science are especially desired.Successful candidates will have evidence of or strong potential for establishing an independent, extramurally funded research program, a demonstrated interest in teaching, and a commitment to epidemiology and public health. Candidates will also be responsible for advising and mentoring graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and junior faculty scholars.Faculty members will receive a competitive salary, dedicated research space, and protected time for scholarship. The positions include start-up packages with research and laboratory support funds, providing opportunities for diverse research experiences. The department provides a highly collegial environment with growth potential.About the enterprise:The College is located on the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) campus in Omaha, along with the Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Dentistry, and Allied Health. UNMC is a part of the University of Nebraska System, an R1 institution, and is Nebraska's only public, academic health sciences center. The Department of Epidemiology collaborates in research and teaching with other medical center colleges and has research and training relationships with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. The University of Nebraska Medical Center is home to the Buffett Cancer Center, an NCI-designated cancer center, the Global Center for Health Security, and the Nebraska Great Plains IDeA-Clinical and Translation Research Center.The College of Public Health has several research centers: Global Health and Development, Center for Reducing Health Disparities, Collaboration on Research Design and Analysis, and Health Policy Analysis and Rural Health Research. The Department of Epidemiology houses the Center for Biosecurity, Biopreparedness, & Emerging Infectious Diseases. More than 150 students are currently enrolled in our master's and doctoral degree programs. Applicants at the Associate and full Professor level must have an established record of extramurally funded research (e.g., NIH/AHRQ/CDC/NSF, Foundations).· An ongoing record of peer-reviewed publications.· National or international scholarship recognition for Associate and Full Professor applicants.· A demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse academic environment.
Desired:· Post-doctoral training in epidemiology or a related field.· History of peer-reviewed funding and publication that exemplifies collaborative and multidisciplinary research.· Evidence of training and competence in epidemiologic research methods· Experience managing and analyzing data from population research studies, including clinical trials and observational studies.How to apply:The application system will open on 10/13/2022.
