Position Summary Tenure-leading faculty position in cognitive neuroscience at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
The Department of Neurological Sciences (DONS) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) invites applications for a tenure leading faculty position in Cognitive Neuroscience. The position will be part of the UNMC DONS Cognitive and Affective Sciences group. Applicants from any domain of human-oriented cognitive neuroscience are welcome, including development and aging as well as memory, executive functions, emotion, and decision-making. The successful applicant would join a growing group of cognitive and affective neuroscientists within DONS and across UNMC who leverage key campus resources supporting cognitive neuroscience research including research-dedicated MRI, MEG, EEG, TMS, physiological recording, eye-movement monitoring, real-world sensor-based behavioral data collection, and research-dedicated high-performance computing, among others.
Successful candidates will have an MD (neurology, psychiatry, behavioral/psychosomatic medicine), PhD (neuroscience, psychology, psychoneuroimmunology, or computer science), or an MD/PhD as well as postdoctoral/fellowship training and an excellent publication record for their career stage. Candidates should also have evidence of the potential (or demonstrated ability) to generate extramural funding. Applicants should have the ability and interest to contribute to graduate courses in cognitive neuroscience and to mentor PhD students in UNMC's doctoral degree programs in neuroscience. Applications will be considered at the junior, mid- career, or senior level. Faculty rank will be commensurate with expertise.
The University of Nebraska Medical Center is a vibrant multidisciplinary research environment with major resources and ample opportunities for training and collaboration. The DONS features outstanding strengths in movement disorders, epilepsy, neuromuscular disorders, multiple sclerosis, and other conditions, and includes neuroimaging (including MEG). The department is well-ranked by the US News World & Report, and is undergoing a major expansion in clinical neurology and neuroscience. The Institution features a growing interdisciplinary neuroscience community, and neuroscience and translational research have been targeted as major institutional priorities. The population base features a relatively high percentage of elderly individuals, yielding uncommon research opportunities for research on Mind and Brain health across the lifespan. Resources include multiple 3T human MRI scanners including a research-dedicated 3T Siemens Prisma, a 306-sensor MEGin Truix Neo MEG system, eye-movement monitoring systems (EyeLink), and a state-of-the-art transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) suite. UNMC is located in Omaha, with a metro area population of approximately one million, and major attractions and events such as the College World Series.
Please submit a letter detailing current research and teaching interests, a curriculum vitae, a list of the applicant's five most noteworthy peer-reviewed publications, and contact information for three individuals who may be asked to provide letters of recommendation at a later time.
Applications should be submitted online at: https://unmc.peopleadmin.com/postings/82911Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Start dates are negotiable.
