Associate Dean for Research and Innovation & Dr. C.C. and Mable L. Criss and Drs. Gilbert and Clinton Beirne Endowed Chair in Nursing

The Creighton University College of Nursing invites candidates to apply for a joint faculty position between the College of Nursing (CON) and Common Spirit Health (CHI). A successful candidate will assume a senior-level leadership position among the College of Nursing (CON), be eligible for a faculty appointment at rank of professor and hold appointment as a CHI employee.

The Associate Dean and Endowed Chair of Research and Innovation ensures that the a college follows best practices in the management and oversight of funded research initiatives and is responsible for stimulating new and continued research activity among the CON and our clinical partner, CHI. The successful candidate will promote the translation of research findings for practice and policy improvement and demonstrate how nursing research positively impacts patient outcomes. The candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and mentoring abilities, and exemplify a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Associate Dean and Endowed Chair will develop and maintain an extramurally funded program of research, serve as a resource in grantsmanship for faculty, and inspire faculty and students to progress in their research and scholarship endeavors. The successful candidate will be an advocate for scholarship by working with both individual and groups of faculty members to help them realize their research agendas. They will evaluate pre-proposals and to help coordinate interdisciplinary, multi-principal investigator research proposals and training grants while providing strategic oversight to the Dean in accomplishing the CON's research mission and moving the college towards its goal of increased extramural funding.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • PhD in nursing or related field.

  • 5 or more years of experience with an established program of scholarship/research, including projects that have received major external funding.

  • Eligible for Nebraska registered nurse license.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, an ability to guide others in their research, and have scholarly publications in refereed research journals.

  • Experience in higher education and qualifications commensurate with appointment as Full Professor within the College of Nursing.



Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience in a joint position between service and education environments.

  • Demonstrated professional leadership activity in professional organizations.

  • Experience or a strong desire to mentor faculty at all levels of career development and terminal preparation.
