Job Description
The School Nurse will administer school health services, provide health and nursing services to students, promote health and safety, intervene with actual and potential health problems, and provide case management services.
Conduct and/or coordinate mandated screening; follow up with those who fail screening.
Train, supervise, and support assigned health services support staff.
Provide appropriate and necessary training to appropriate school personnel
Assume the collection and maintenance of all health-related data and ensure maintenance-mandated logs as required by law and/or community partnership.
In collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team, investigate and assess the health of students with chronic absences.
Attend 504, SST, and IEP meeting as necessary to provide appropriate health related information to form support for students.
Assist in monitoring compliance with HIPPA and confidentiality requirements.
Supervise ad administer medication(s) to students according to District Board policy and administrative regulations.
Interpret medical and nursing findings appropriate to the students' individualized education programs and 504 plans and make recommendations to professional personnel directly involved.
Develop and implement evidence-based health education curriculum and act as a participant in implementing a comprehensive health instruction curriculum for students
Develop, coordinate, and teach health-related subjects under the supervision of a classroom teacher.
Counsel and assist students and parents in health-related and school-adjustment services to ensure access and continuity of healthcare and wellness for students.
Implement health actions determined by District, local, and state officials to control and manage communicable diseases, including immunization programs.
Document student health information in District's electronic database systems and student cumulative folders, as required.
Submit monthly, state, and annual reports as required by California Department of Health Services and the District.
Other duties as assigned.
