The Central Alabama Veteran Health Care System (CAVHCS) located in Montgomery and Tuskegee, AL is seeking a energetic Gastroenterologist to provide consultation and treatment for patients in all patient care settings and performs diagnostic and therapeutic invasive procedures.
Outpatient clinics may be held on both the Montgomery and Tuskegee campuses. He/She chairs or participates in committees and workgroups. He/She participates in student and resident training programs.

The Gastroenterologist may have on-call time and may work off-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays as priorities demonstrate a need.

Additional Qualifications:

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology

Skill in performing diagnostic and therapeutic upper and lower endoscopy, including stent placement, PEGs, and dilation. Proficiency with EUS and ERCP is preferred

Maintain current BLS and ACLS certification

Maintain privileges at all times at the Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System

Excellent communication skills

Functions with patience and energy in a bureaucratic environment

Enjoys working as a member of a multidisciplinary team

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (8:00 a.m. - 4:30p.m.) There will be instances when the selectee may be required to work off-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays as priorities demonstrate a need on a rotating basis.

Salary Range: up to $300,000 per year

Recruitment/Relocation incentive may be authorized for a highly qualified candidate

Selected candidate may be able to apply for education loan assistance thru the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP). Participation is based on funds availability.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

US Citizenship. Citizen of United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA policy)

Must be proficient in written and spoken English

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine

Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia
