Overview:
Touro University, New York School of Career and Applied Studies is looking for applicants to join our Manhattan campus faculty. The undergraduate education department offers courses toward our B.S. in Early Childhood Education and Special Education and B.S. in Childhood Education and Special Education majors, as well as for a minor or concentration in the many interdisciplinary programs offered within the University.
Responsibilities:
The Assistant/Associate Professor of Education will be responsible for a wide range of activities including but not limited to the following:
Teach a range of up to four courses per semester using varied modalities including in-person traditional classes, asynchronous online classes, and synchronous, remote classes via zoom. Additional classes may be available for extra compensation.
Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, handouts, hands-on activities, and projects
Be prompt and accurate in the recording and reporting of student data -Support students' learning goals by taking into account needs and abilities of the students, becoming familiar with academic and social support provided by the university, and provide academic advisement
Work with the Office of Certification (OOC) at Touro Graduate School of Education (GSE) to mentor NYSCAS students with with all phases of certification attainment, including providing support with certification examination pass rates and workshops
Work with the Office of Clinical Practice (OCP) at GSE to provide field supervision to undergraduate NYSCAS students completing clinical coursework
Contribute to academic life on campus by serving on college committees and participating in student recruitment activities
Participate in ongoing professional development toward an understanding of advances and developments in the field as well as the teaching profession
Contribute to the department's efforts to continually develop and update curriculum and active research
Support and develop new initiatives for the department (e.g., associate-level degrees for both education majors, residencies and apprenticeships, grants)
Qualifications:
Education/ Experience
Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education required
At least 3 years teaching experience at the early childhood and/or childhood level
NYS teacher certification preferred
Knowledge of the NYS certification process
Record of clinical experience and research publication preferred
Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities
Demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communication
Interpersonal competencies including diplomacy, professionalism, judgement, and discretion, as well as the ability to develop positive and cooperative relationships with students, faculty, and colleagues
Proficiency in Canvas, Zoom, and the Microsoft Office suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Maximum Salary:
USD $73,890.00/Yr.
Minimum Salary:
USD $59,112.00/Yr.
