The Department of Global Health at Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University is recruiting a research track faculty in social determinants of women's health to work on SCALE, a five-year NIH-funded R01; candidate may teach in GHD PhD program in areas of joint interest to Dr. Yount's research team (e.g., Prevention of GBV; women's empowerment; women's health).
The new faculty member will be welcome to attend regular team and departmental seminars, may be invited to develop and to teach 1-2 courses for HDGH; may expect to mentor MPH students who are serving as research assistants on projects and/or who are completing REAL or APE requirements with our team; may mentor doctoral students in research rotations or as a committee member on their dissertation work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Doctoral degree in public health at the start of employment, with a disciplinary focus in the social and behavioral sciences, including demography, psychology, social epidemiology, social psychology, social statistics, or a related discipline.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates should have demonstrated experience in collaborative research or "team science," classroom teaching, and research mentoring in one of the above disciplines. Specific research expertise is preferred in the fields of gender and empowerment; gender-based violence; health in adolescence and young adulthood; and/or health equity in populations with considerations to sex assigned at birth, gender identity, and/or sexual orientation. Training in and experience applying advanced quantitative and qualitative research methods in low-resource settings and populations is preferred, including REDCap or similar data system for multisite data collection; design, implementation, and analysis of data from randomized intervention trials; implementation science; psychometric methods; and the collection and analysis of qualitative data from in-depth interviews, key-informant interviews, life-history narratives, and focus group discussions, among other qualitative methods. A track-record of research productivity in terms of first and co-authored publications, and an interest to collaborate as a team member on externally funded research proposals is preferred.
