Why Patients Need You

At Pfizer we deliver breakthroughs that change patients' lives. In La Jolla, we are dedicated to the development of oncology agents that disrupt cancer biology or redirect the immune system against cancer cells. The Systems Biology team plays a vital role in this mission through enabling the discovery and molecular understanding of antibody-drug conjugates and small-molecule therapeutics. We are seeking an innovative colleague with scientific contributions in the field of cancer cell biology and proteomics.

What You Will Achieve

As a member of our Systems Biology team, your research will drive a deeper understanding of drug targets through profiling tumor associated antigen (TAA) abundance in normal and tumor tissues, assessing proteome specificity degraders and degrader-antibody conjugates, and investigation of drug mechanism-of-action through mapping interactomes and post-translational modifications. You will act as a proteomics subject matter expert and participate on project teams, providing insight and technical expertise required for project progression. You will also work closely with the Medicinal Chemistry, Protein Engineering, and Oncology Biology groups to innovate and develop the next-generation of therapies

How You Will Achieve It
  • Lead proteomics method development projects
  • Prepare samples from cell lines and tissues for proteomic studies
  • Independently develop and optimize protocols. Analyze and summarize results from western blot and mass spectrometry studies
  • Actively contribute on multi-disciplinary project teams, including developing experimental plans and communication of results
  • Maintain a strong knowledge base in state-of-the-art chemical biology technologies for target engagement and interactome mapping
  • Conduct novel research and present significant findings via internal and external presentations or publications

Qualifications

Must-Have
  • PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, or similar discipline
  • Experience with LC/MS-based proteomics workflow.
  • Experience with a TOF or Orbitrap instrument utilizing DIA with label-free quantitation, or DDA with TMT.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, gel electrophoresis, western blotting/WES, plate-based assays, and/or protein quantification.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong track record of scientific publications.

Nice-to-Have
  • PhD degree with 3+ years of related postdoctoral research experience.
  • Experience with mass spec maintenance and QC, automated sample preparation (Bravo AssayMAP, Kingfisher), immunoprecipitation mass spectrometry (IP-MS), and enrichment proteomics (surface, membrane, phosphoproteomics).
  • Experience with Thermo Eclipse/Ascend and Bruker timsTOF.
  • Drug discovery and oncology experience
