Position Summary Information
Job Goal
Full time instructor needed to teach Agriculture Courses, with expertise in Ag Business and Finance required. The instructor will provide effective instruction to ensure academic programming attains student learning outcomes and prepares students for successful transition into the workforce or transfer to a post-secondary institution. To carry out assigned responsibilities to ensure academic programs are sustainable and aligned with accreditation standards.
Qualifications
Must possess a Bachelor of Science Degree, Master's Degree preferred, in the area of study or a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience at the K-12 level and/or 6,000 hours of training comprised of recent and relevant experience within the agriculture/agronomy industry. A Baccalaureate degree in any area of study with a minimum of 18 credit hours related to agriculture business, production, management, sales, finance, or agronomy will be considered.
This position requires an equal balance of teaching theory and "hands on" knowledge, skills and abilities to prepare students to successfully perform competencies consistent with the rigor of the aforementioned programs, including expertise in Ag Production, Business, Finance, Risk Management, Beef and Dairy Science.
Primary courses taught may include: Farm Business Management, Agriculture Risk Management, Ag Markets, Ag Selling, Ag Finance, and Supervision of Internships. Additional courses in Animal Science, Beef/Dairy Production, and Agronomy/Crop Science may be assigned.
Must meet minimum experience and education requirements as outlined by the Iowa Code sections 260C.47 and 260C.48 and the Northeast Iowa Community College Quality Faculty Plan.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching is a core activity of the College and all faculty members are expected to achieve excellence in this role. Teaching includes not only traditional classroom, laboratory and studio instruction, but may also include service-learning courses, evolving forms of technology-enhanced instruction such as hybrid, online, distance learning courses, competency based learning, and other non-classroom instruction such as the supervision of interns/co-op students and clinical students.
Essential Functions
Faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly activity to enhance teaching effectiveness and facilitate life-long learning.
Faculty members are expected to engage in activities at the department level that contribute to meeting the mission of the College. Faculty members are expected to contribute their disciplinary expertise through participation in internal and external community organizations relevant to their discipline of study.
