Job Description:

The Department of Computing and Applied Technology is pleased to invite applications for full-time tenure track faculty appointments in Construction Management/Architectural Design at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor. Date of appointment is August 2024. We seek individuals to teach in both the Construction Management and Architecture Design disciplines and will consider a wide range of credentials, skill sets, and backgrounds. Major responsibilities of the positions include development and delivery of college-level teaching of Construction Management courses and labs, and teaching of Architectural Design course and labs. Knowledge of other construction-related fields is also valued, including, but not limited to: building systems, renewable energy systems, building performance evaluation, OSHA safety regulations, HVAC, building trades, design fundamentals and common software programs used within both disciplines.

The successful candidate will be qualified to teach some of the following classes and labs:

The successful candidate will:

* Be responsive to student questions and available for student support.
* Use appropriate technology to enhance learning.
* Assess learning outcomes and adapt curriculum to meet learning objectives.
* Demonstrate insight and encouragement in working with diverse student populations, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education.
* Provide appropriate academic advising to students to support timely degree completion.
* Be innovative in the presentation of lectures and hands-on learning activities that achieve learning outcomes.
* Provide timely feedback on students' assignments and exams throughout each semester.
* Be accountable to meet the needs of the Department and the College, including timely submission of grades and other required materials.
* Actively engage with employers and local community partners to develop service learning/internship opportunities for current and future students.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Appointment at the Rank of Instructor:

* Associate degree in the subject area of Construction Management and/or Architecture, or closely allied field.
* Industry-recognized professional license or certification.
* Minimum of five years of full-time related industry experience.

Appointment at the Rank of Assistant Professor:

* Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or closely allied field, preferably from a NAAB accredited institution;
* Three years of work experience in construction/architecture;
* Prior experience providing training or instruction in Construction Management and/or Architecture;
* Knowledge and enthusiasm about design, construction technology, sustainability and resiliency issues.

OR

* Master's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or closely allied field; and
* Three years of work experience in construction/architecture.

OR

* Doctorate in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or closely allied field.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Professional registration/certification (PE, AIA, PMP, CPC, LEED AP).
* Active participation in OSHA or other professional and community organizations related to Construction Management.
* Background in teaching college level courses and curricular development.
* Demonstrated connections with local industry.
* Possess 30-hour OSHA Credential.
* Bilingual in Spanish & English (English and another language will be considered).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project);

Practical hands-on, design or technology management experience in the application of Construction Management and/or Architecture.

Familiar with some or all of the following software programs:

* Autocad.
* Procore.
* Revit.
* Rhino, Enscape, and/or Lumion.
* Sketchup.

Additional Information:

* The 2023-2024 starting salary for the rank of Instructor is $50,000 and Assistant Professor is $56,250.
* Full-time faculty can earn an additional $15,000 -$20,000 annually, by teaching more than 15 credits during each regular semester, and by teaching during off-hand periods.
* Salaries for 2024-2025 are not yet available.

* During each fall and spring semester, teaching typically occurs on campus, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 10:30pm.
* Schedules, including five required office hours each week, are selected in advance for each semester.
