Max Planck Research Group Leader (W2)
in Cell Biology
We are looking for exceptional early-career scientists conducting wet-lab research with a proven record of accomplishment. The primary focus of this call is on candidates proposing research targeted at the molecular or cellular scale. Proposals that also include a component of cross-scale feedbacks and emergence are of particular interest. We especially value projects that transcend disciplinary boundaries and have the potential to foster collaboration across the institute. Prior achievements in developing new technologies will be highly regarded.
We would particularly encourage proposals in the following research topics:
Junior group leaders at the MPI-CBG receive a competitive core support package with funds for postdocs, PhD students, consumable, facility budget, and equipment which can be expanded by attracting external third-party funding. Successful candidates will develop an independent research program in an interactive and cross-disciplinary environment, benefiting from access to our technology platforms and facilities, including high-performance computing infrastructure. The MPI-CBG also provides access to a rich collaborative network within the Max Planck Society and close links to our partner university, the Technische Universität Dresden .
The initial group leader appointment is for six years with the possibility of a three-year extension upon successful evaluation, for a total possible duration of nine years. The competitive salary and benefits are based on remuneration group W2 of the Federal Civil Service Remuneration Act.
The MPI-CBG is a pioneering basic research institute in Dresden, Germany, focused on cell, developmental, and systems biology. The MPI-CBG shares a single research faculty with the Center for Systems Biology Dresden , combining experiment with theory in a collaborative research environment aimed at understanding how cells form tissues and organs. As an employer, MPI-CBG offers a diverse working environment that fosters open communication with a positive work-life balance and strong community focus. Support for families includes flexible working conditions and partnerships with three nearby daycare centers.
