Position description
Assistant/Associate Health Sciences Clinical Professor/ Physical Therapist: Neurologic Focus

The UCSF Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science is seeking full-time members in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor series (at the ranks of Assistant or Associate Professor) to provide Physical Therapy services to the UCSF Physical Therapy Faculty Practice, and to support its teaching programs in the UCSF/SFSU Graduate Program in Physical Therapy.

The mission of the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science is to provide evidence-based, patient- centered physical therapy services for the community, and to educate scholarly, socially sensitive clinicians, educators, and researchers in physical therapy and rehabilitation science who will lead the profession into the next century.

Physical therapy students and clinical faculty participate as part of a team within an environment of health care that is patient focused, and directed towards building the scientific base of clinical practice, with an eye toward quality, accessibility, and efficiency.

The UCSF Faculty Practice serves a broad range of patients (adolescents to elders) with a variety of neurological and musculoskeletal challenges. The applicants for these positions are expected to:
  • practice evidence based, high quality care;
  • teach students in the clinical setting;
  • represent the Faculty Practice within UCSF and the surrounding communities; and
  • maintain an active dialogue with UCSF referring providers and within the UCSF Health community.

At time of hire applicants must hold a DPT degree and have an area of practice expertise, ideally as a Board-certified Neurologic clinical specialist (at time of hire). The applicant must have a license to practice physical therapy in California or be eligible for licensure in California, and must have experience in patient care at time of hire. Applicants' materials must list current and/or pending qualifications upon submission. The candidates may be asked to participate in classroom teaching, and will instruct students in the Faculty Practice environments. This position is comprised of 90-95% patient care and 5-10% teaching in the UCSF/SFSU Graduate Program in Physical Therapy, which offers an Entry-level Doctor of Physical Therapy degree program. The faculty member is expected to participate in university governance, faculty meetings, departmental administrative meetings, quality assurance programs and continuing education.

Academic rank and salary level will be based on the successful applicant's experience. Applications will be considered immediately and accepted until these positions are filled. Interested applicants should upload a cover letter, CV, statement of contributions to diversity, statement of teaching, and the names and email addresses for five references to the AP Recruit system at https://aprecruit.ucsf.edu/JPF04530.
