Summary
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to perform binding kinetics using surface plasmon resonance (SPR) and biolayer interferometry (BLI) to support the Oncology Research Unit at Pfizer. The primary objective of this position is to aid in the characterization of small molecules for multiple programs, with additional responsibilities in protein-protein interactions when priorities shift. The candidate will design and execute experiments, analyze data, and interpret results to support various research projects. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in biochemistry, experience with binding kinetics assays, and excellent problem-solving skills. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential, offering an opportunity to contribute to innovative research in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $64,600.00 to $107,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary. Principal Responsibilities
- Design and perform small molecule and protein-protein binding kinetic experiments using BLI and SPR.
- Analytical characterization of proteins via analytical SEC, mass spectrometry, SDS-PAGE, UV-Vis, intrinsic fluorescence, or related techniques.
- Biotinylation of recombinant proteins.
- Process proteins including buffer exchange, protein concentration adjustment, aliquoting, and storage.
- Manage and track binding requests and samples.
- Data analysis, report generation, and presentation of results.
- Document all work in an electronic laboratory notebook.
- Balance workload and changing priorities to efficiently contribute to kinetic research collaborations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences or related discipline with 3+ years lab experience in an academic and/or industry environment.
- Experience with performing protein binding kinetics (Biacore/Octet).
- Strong understanding of experimental design and familiarity/experience with basic biochemical principles and techniques.
- Strong attention to detail while following protocols and with data representation.
- Commitment to high quality analysis and documentation with the ability to organize, analyze and interpret, and effectively communicate individual results.
- Ability to perform routine tasks independently, more advanced tasks under direction and complete work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience with performing and designing binding kinetics assays on Octet, Biacore, Carterra, or other related protein kinetics instruments, especially with a focus on small molecule binding and screening.
- Strong understanding of sensorgram analysis theories.
- Tracking inventory and/or requests through computer systems, Smartsheet, or Excel.
- Basic knowledge of antibody biochemistry, understanding of immunological functions and systems.
- Experience with labeling proteins with a small molecule like biotin.
