General Responsibilities

The School of Engineering and Facilities Engineering Department invites applications for a full-time, Tenure-Track, Assistant or Associate Professor to teach principally second, third and fourth year Mechanical Engineering core courses and alternative departmental courses as needed. We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual who loves teaching and shares our dedication to excellence in undergraduate education. This position supports the educational mission of the Facilities Engineering Department within the School of Engineering and its commitment to provide high-quality educational opportunities. Appointment at the Assistant or Associate level commensurate with prior full-time teaching experience.

* Teach an academic course load of 12 credits per semester in Engineering core courses in Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer. Additional courses within the Facilities Engineering curriculum may also be assigned as needed.
* Be responsible for undergraduate laboratory curricula, including design of the quality, efficacy, and learning outcomes of experiments.
* Advise, mentor and guide cadets on individual plans of study and progress toward degree
* The successful candidate will also be given the opportunity to develop and teach new courses consistent with the academic goals of the Department and its students.

Qualifications and Requirements

* Hold Master of Science in Mechanical or Civil Engineering by the desired start date
* Maintain a Professional Engineer in any State, with the capability of receiving a Massachusetts license, by comity, within the first six months of employment
* Have excellent oral and written communication skills
* Exhibit an interest in mentoring and student development
* Demonstrate personal and professional commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in Engineering; and
* Have legal authorization to work in the United States by the proposed start date.

Preferred Qualifications

* Completed PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Civil Engineering by the desired start date;
* Have experience teaching the specific courses listed in the Position Summary in an undergraduate Mechanical Engineering/Civil Engineering program
* Show evidence of teaching effectiveness
* Demonstrate relevant industry experience in Facility Engineering/Management
* Have experience with 3D Modeling software
* Hold teaching experience and/or relevant professional work and industry experience.
* A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development and/or the modeling of inclusive behaviors.

Salary

$70,000-$74,000. This is a tenure-track, 9-month academic calendar position. The Academy offers generous benefits and a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. Please note, the Academy is not sponsoring immigration visas.
