Basic Function/Overview:
THIS IS A TEMPORARY, HOURLY AS NEEDED POSITION WITHOUT PERMANENT STATUS.

This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
This is a temporary, hourly, as needed position without permanent status.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Provide comprehensive counseling services, academic adjustment and educational plans to ACCESS/Deaf and Hard of Hearing students.
2) Provide academic, career, and personal counseling utilizing equitable, social justice, and culturally responsive counseling techniques.
3) Administer and interpret career assessments.
4) Counsel students in discovering and clarifying their career and educational goals.
5) Counsel and assist students in developing student educational plans (abbreviated and comprehensive).
6) Conduct new student orientations, teach counseling courses, and facilitate workshops with an equity-minded awareness and sensitivity to the needs of underserved student populations.
7) Counsel students on probation and facing dismissal; make referrals to appropriate interventions.
8) Demonstrate knowledge and use of current counseling, educational, career websites, and software.
9) Perform related duties as assigned, including timely compliance with clerical and administrative responsibilities, College policies, division policies and department policies.
10) Possess the ability to work collaboratively with other college departments.
11) Maintain scheduled office and campus hours.

Minimum Qualifications:
A. The minimum of one of the following awarded/conferred from a regionally accredited institution:1) Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling, OR
2) Master's degree in counseling, guidance counseling, student personnel, clinical or counseling psychology, education counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, marriage, family and child counseling, or a Bachelor's degree in marriage and family therapy or in marriage, family and child counseling and possession of a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT); and either fifteen or more semester units in upper division or graduate level course work specifically related to people with disabilities, or completion of six semester units, or the equivalent of a graduate-level counseling practicum or counseling field work courses, in a postsecondary Disabled Students Programs and Services (DSPS) Program or in a program dealing predominantly or exclusively with people with disabilities, or two years of full-time experience, or the equivalent, in one or more of the following:

a. Counseling for students with disabilities; or

b. Counseling in industry, government, public agencies, military or private social welfare organizations in which the responsibilities of the position were predominantly or exclusively for persons with disabilities, or the equivalent.
; OR
  1. The equivalent (must request an equivalency review in the application), OR
  2. California Community College credential, Valid for Life (no longer issued), authorizing service as an instructor in the appropriate discipline; refer to Ed Code 87355 (If meeting qualifications with this credential, a copy of the valid lifetime credential must be submitted with the application.);

AND

B. Commitment to the community college goals/objectives of providing quality programs and services for students with diverse abilities and interests; personal qualities to work effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment; awareness and commitment to the special needs of non-traditional students.

Conditions of Employment:
The person holding this position is required to be present on Mt. San Antonio College's campus to perform all essential duties and responsibilities.
