Position Summary:
The College of Health and Human Sciences at Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking qualified applicants for one Assistant/Associate/Full Professor position within the entry-level Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program in the School of Health Sciences hybrid, weekend program beginning January 1, 2025. This is a continuing, nine-month, tenure track position. Based on course availability, summer appointments may be offered.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide direct classroom/laboratory/clinical instruction and office hours as assigned. Teach via online and traditional delivery methods. Provide indirect teaching, such as: student selection, student advisement, recruitment, and retention for the OTD program.
Conduct scholarly research and produce creative activities consistent with School of Health Sciences expectations within the occupational therapy arena.
Participate in professional practice, seminars, or workshops necessary to maintain up-to-date skills in the occupational therapy profession.
Maintain a teaching, research, and service assignment consistent with the workload of a tenure-track faculty position within the College of Health and Human Sciences.
Comply with the spirit and intent of the University, College, and School Operating Papers.
Contribute to program curriculum development processes.
Evaluate student performance, maintain accurate records of student progress, and submit final grade rosters in accordance with program/school/college and university policy.
Engage in other duties as determined by the Director of the School of Health Sciences

Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree (Post-professional Doctorate in Occupational Therapy, or an earned Professional level degree in Occupational Therapy with a Doctorate degree in a related field of study) by start date.
A minimum of 3 years of full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the post-secondary education level.
Occupational therapy experience in adult neuro, mental health, pediatric and/or behavioral health practice.
Certified by the Board of Certification as an Occupational Therapist and licensed or eligible for license as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Illinois by the start date.
Applicants for the rank of Assistant Professor must demonstrate a record of potential for scholarly productivity.

Preferred Qualifications:
History of established research agenda and scholarly achievement in occupational therapy.
Involvement in scholarly research and creative activities within the occupational therapy arena.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of educational theory and methodology.
Demonstrates an understanding of the current ACOTE Standards.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational and technology skills.
Knowledge of OT program development and accreditation processes.
Applicants for the rank of Professor must demonstrate a record of superior teaching, academic achievement and professional reputation that is commensurate with appointment at SIU Carbondale at the rank of Professor.
Applicants for the rank of Associate Professor must demonstrate a record of teaching effectiveness and scholarship that is commensurate with appointment at SIU Carbondale at the rank of Associate Professor.
