The RNA Research Division of New England Biolabs (NEB) invites applicants for the position of Postdoctoral Fellow. The successful candidate will be a key part of a basic research team focused on reverse transcriptases in antiphage defense. This research program seeks to identify pathways and mechanisms of uncharacterized enzymes using genetic and biochemical screening methods.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Design and execute novel genetic and biochemical screening methods.
  • Perform cell-based assays on bacteria and bacteriophage.
  • Design and implement innovative strategies for RNA and DNA sequencing.
  • Write and prepare manuscripts for publication in high-quality scientific journals.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Ph.D. in chemical or biological sciences.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented and collaborative setting.
  • Publication of original scientific work in high-quality journals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience performing next-generation RNA and DNA sequencing.
  • Experience with bacterial culture and genetic manipulation.
  • Experience working with bacteriophage
  • Experience performing protein purification and in vitro enzyme assays
