Alida Biosciences is a VC-backed startup in San Diego focused on developing novel genomic analysis tools. The company's technology will advance the understanding of the epigenome and provide actionable information for improving human health.
We recently launched our first products and are seeking a Systems Biologist who has the passion and talent to transform omics with next-generation technologies. In this critical role, you will be responsible for in-depth analyses of multi-omic datasets providing novel biological insights and contextual frameworks for drivers of disease. You will work closely with our Bioinformatics, Assay Development and Commercial teams to help guide product development, support customers and collaborators and develop methods that leverage product capabilities. This position is an unparalleled opportunity for a motivated scientist to advance our understanding of biology through access and interpretation of novel molecular information.
Responsibilities
Analyze large biological data sets to generate valuable insights, identify potential biomarkers and build accurate predictive models of biological processes, such as tumor evolution and neurodegeneration.
Advance the integration of multi-omics and experimental/clinical data to inform biological mechanisms (e.g., Genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, epitranscriptomics, proteomics).
Collaborate with internal and external researchers to analyze and interpret NGS data using existing and custom methods.
Actively participate in the publication process, including manuscript preparation for peer-reviewed journals and code generation.
Contribute to the development of grant proposals and funding applications.
Stay current with state-of-the-art methods and data releases, including reading academic papers, reproducing algorithms and methods and analyzing relevant datasets from various sources.
Requirements
A PhD in computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics, systems biology, or a related field.
Familiar with large-scale data analysis and an understanding of data models to represent biological concepts.
Significant experience analyzing RNA sequencing (bulk and single-cell) and demonstrated ability to establish biological insights. Experience assigning function to RNA modifications a plus.
Demonstrated proficiency in programming languages like Python/R and omic data analysis.
Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate to senior management, across various departments and a scientific audience.
Optimistic with a can-do attitude who thrives in solving tough problems.
Desire to be a part of a company that will meaningfully advance our understanding of biology.
Benefits
As an early-stage company, we offer exceptional opportunities for our employees to engage in cross-functional roles, grow with the company, build new technologies, and launch innovative products. We offer a competitive and comprehensive employee benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401k with company match, paid vacation, and a stock plan.
