Description
The Department of Molecular & Medical Pharmacology isseeking to hire a motivated Staff Research Associate I to join the team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting our research endeavors, focusing on molecular biology experiments and cell culture work to evaluate the drug metabolism and pharmacokinetic properties of lead compounds in vitro. Responsibilities include maintaining lab inventory, ensuring cleanliness, and managing regulatory approvals. Key duties involve conducting molecular biology techniques such as PCR, RT-PCR, Western Blot, and cloning, as well as biochemistry and cell culture procedures. Additionally, in this role, you will assist in in vitro drug screening studies encompassing purified kinase, proliferation, and other DMPK investigations. Proficiency with basic laboratory equipment, including centrifuges, pH meters, incubators, biosafety cabinet hoods, PCR machines, and electrophoresis apparatus, is required. Hourly range: $26.52-$31.63
Qualifications
Required:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of basic genetics, molecular biology and biochemical principles;
  • Strong molecular biology skill-set, including experience with cell culture, PCR, RT-PCR, Western blot, and cloning;
  • Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments with minimal supervision;
  • Demonstrated computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft applications;
  • Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse group of faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows and students;
  • Ability to communicate effectively to convey experimental results;
  • Ability to learn new methods and protocols and to adapt these to current laboratory situations.

Preferred:
  • B.S. or M.S. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or related field;
  • Familiarity with in vitro drug screening studies including purified kinase, proliferation, and other DMPK studies;
  • Experience with basic laboratory equipment, including centrifuge, pH meter, incubators, biosafety cabinet hoods, PCR machines and electrophoresis apparatus
