Description
The Department of Medicine is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated Staff Research Associate I to join our dynamic research team, which is focused on uncovering the molecular mechanisms underlying metabolic dysfunction and insulin resistance. This role involves conducting in vivo rodent studies, including the management of a genetically engineered mouse colony, tissue dissection, DNA, RNA, and protein isolation, as well as performing qRT-PCR and immunoblot analyses. The SRA I will also be responsible for rodent exercise training and assisting with laboratory organization and maintenance.
*This is a 100% limited role which may convert to career*
Hourly range: $26.52-$31.63

Qualifications
Required:
- General knowledge of substrate metabolism and exercise physiology
- Good work ethic, communication skills and ability to work well independently or as a part of a group.
- Understanding of University procedures and policies for ordering and biohazard, radioactive and chemical waste disposal.
- Working knowledge of the microscope and basic laboratory equipments (centrifuge, incubators, spectrophotometer, PCR, Q-PCR).
- Skill in using MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent skills in problem solving and data analysis, organization and presentation.
- General knowledge of chemistry and meticulous preparation of reagents.
Preferred:
- BS in Molecular Biology, Physiology or Chemistry
- Experienced in working with mice and ARC certified to work with mice.
