Description
The Division of Surgery is seeking to hire a full-time
Research Associate to join the Orthpaedic Surgery Department. You will conduct
scientific projects related to skeletal muscle dysfunction and fibrosis in
cerebral palsy. Primary duties include:
Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Anatomy, or related field
(preferred)
Ability to recognize and use technical terminology related
to muscle anatomy and function
Experience in cell culture protocols (aseptic techniques
cell seeding, cell passage, cryopreserving)
Experience in data processing and analysis (R studio,
statistics)
Knowledge of computers including word processing,
spreadsheet, graphics software, ad literature search methods
Ability to maintain accurate inventory of supplies and
laboratory instruments
Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with faculty,
staff, postdoc fellows, and students

- Conducting human muscle and small animal tissue
experimentation - Performing cell culture and Atomic Force
Microscopy (AFM) - Assisting in purifying DNA, protein and RNA from
cells and tissues - Laboratory maintenance
- Data organization, management, and analysis
- Assisting in the preparation of manuscripts,
grants, and research reports - Other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Anatomy, or related field
