Role Overview
The Assistant Operator, QC Lab helps with the upkeep of the QC lab equipment & instruments, cleaning glassware & labware, and maintaining lab items like reagents, chemicals, standards, one time use items inventory. This position is responsible for assisting the QC Lab in any way needed.
This position Reports to the Quality Control Manager and dotted line to the Quality Control Supervisor.

Role Overview
The Assistant Operator, QC Lab helps with the upkeep of the QC lab equipment & instruments, cleaning glassware & labware, and maintaining lab items like reagents, chemicals, standards, one time use items inventory. This position is responsible for assisting the QC Lab in any way needed.
This position Reports to the Quality Control Manager and dotted line to the Quality Control Supervisor.
Areas of Responsibility
- Perform monthly cleaning of lab equipment including water baths, lab sonicators, lab ovens, titrators, sieve shakers, lab washers, Incubators, Biosafety Cabinets, and other general-use lab equipment.
- Perform weekly cleaning of lab benches, fume hoods, and working benches.
- Routine Storage of chemicals, reagents, and solvents in chemical cabinets, and solvent cabinets.
- Maintaining list & indexes of chemicals, reagents, and lab one-time use items on the computer system and physically performing an inventory of items once a month in the beginning.
- Follow well-defined procedures as outlined by Best Practices, Standard Operation Procedures & Work Instructions.
- Chemical and microbiology Laboratory waste preparation and moving to waste storage and disposal area. Informing EHS to schedule pick up of lab waste.
- Cleaning and disinfection of the general laboratories and other support areas per approved procedures.
- Washing and cleaning of chemical lab glassware as per standard procedures, drying them in the oven, and storage in designated places for routine testing purpose.
- Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
- Storage of tested samples in the control sample area as per lab procedure.
- Help in moving lab instruments, equipment, or solvents from one location to another location.
- Helping chemists in the setup of dissolution test apparatus for testing.
- Recording readings from the DI water unit on a daily basis to check the quality of water.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Works in a safe and responsible manner to create an injury-free and incident-free workplace.
- Complies with all job-related safety and other training requirements.
- Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
Education & Qualification:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent with science-related qualification
- N/A
- Able to read, write, and speak English sufficiently
- Knowledge of chemistry is a plus
- Meets commitments on time and practices time-management skills
- Ability to navigate office, labs, shipping/receiving docks, stock rooms, and storage locations.
- Uses hands to finger, handle, feel, or operate objects or controls, lifting to waist height and/or above shoulder height, frequent bending from the waist, or squatting, walking short distances and leaning over equipment as well as kneeling on the floor to clean under the equipment.
- Extensive walking may be required.
- Uses material handling equipment such as push carts and pallet jacks, but must be able to lift, push and pull 30-40 pounds consistently.
- Works in areas where chemicals, solvents, and reagents are in use.
- Depending on area of building, personal protective equipment must be worn including lab coats, coveralls, hoods, facemasks, hairnets, and safety gloves as per job requirements.
- Work is regularly performed inside a laboratory environment where temperatures can be moderate, and exposure to dust, odors, noise, and fumes. The noise level is usually moderate. Employees can be exposed daily to chemicals and cleaning agents.
- May execute up to 20% of their work at the bench level either standing or sitting on a stool.
- Work performed in a standard office environment is without unpleasant or hazardous conditions.
