The Position

Rêve Preparatory Charter School is seeking an engaging School Nurse for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year.

We are looking for a school nurse that will be responsible for the healthcare of our students and staff members. Some of the school nurse's responsibilities will include teaching classes on nutrition and health and developing healthcare initiatives for the school.

To be successful as a school nurse, you must be knowledgeable in principles and practices underlying professional nursing and remain up to date with current trends in the specialized field of school health.

The professional that would be a great fit for this role is eager to learn, quick to incorporate feedback, and has a deep belief in the power of a high-quality education. This job reports to the School Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilizing existing resources to provide appropriate healthcare to students and staff.
  • Assessing the status of student and staff immunization documentation, when necessary.
  • Promoting an optimal level of wellness among students and staff by providing preventative healthcare services, such as immunizations.
  • Developing and implementing health plans for students with specific health needs.
  • Carrying out health assessments and screening for deficits in vision, hearing, growth, and/or development of students.
  • Planning and implementing school health management protocols and procedures, especially for emergency situations.
  • Providing referrals, to parents or staff, for intervention and remediation of abnormal or worrying health conditions affecting students.
  • Providing ongoing health counseling to students, parents, and staff.
  • Completing medical paperwork, when necessary.
  • Attending various school meetings.
  • Respond to a variety of questions, comments, concerns, issues, and other matters in a n appropriate and professional matter.
  • Other duties as assigned

Background and Experience
  • High school diploma or associate's degree in health-related field.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and follow through on all activities
  • Experience with and/or understanding of life experiences in underserved communities
  • Wonderful bedside manner
  • Ability to take constructive feedback and quickly incorporate that feedback
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team, including families, instructional staff, support staff, and outside groups
  • A team player willing to do whatever it takes to keep our school running smoothly
  • Ability to read, analyze, and apply common sense understanding and to carry out instructions in written or oral form
  • Physician Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Hearing and Vision certification
