The Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is a materials research organization in Germany. Our mission is to ensure safety in technology and chemistry. We perform research and testing in materials science, materials engineering and chemistry to improve the safety of products and processes. At BAM we do research that matters. Your responsibilities include:
- You are contributing to research into novel sodium-based batteries made from sustainable and cost-effective raw materials that have only recently become commercially available
- Your research project will involve the synthesis, characterization and electrochemical testing of novel anode materials for sodium-ion batteries
- You will learn and develop new instrumental methods, take responsibility in the laboratory and contribute to the development of a young devision
- You will conduct research in an international team of doctoral students and postdocs on related topics
- You publish your results in peer-reviewed journals
- You present your publications at national and international conferences
Your qualifications:
- Very good academic degree (Master/Diploma) in the field of chemistry, nanostructure science, synthesis chemistry, battery technology or comparable
- Intention to do a PhD
- Experience in preparative chemistry (especially inorganic) and/or electrochemical characterization is an advantage
- Very good knowledge of English
- Good written and spoken German is advantageous
- Good presentation and publication skills, willingness to travel
- Good communication and information behaviour, goal-oriented and structured way of working, initiative/commitment, ability to work in a team and willingness to cooperate as well as flexibility
