The Department of Neurology at the University of California, Los Angeles is seeking to fill a Post-Doctoral fellowship position. The Post-doctoral fellow will perform independent research in mechanisms of motor recovery after stroke in humans. This work will examine how measures of neural injury and neural function relate to motor deficits early after stroke and their recovery over time. The studies will be conducted in the context of a phase II clinical trial that examines effects of arm-focused telerehabilitation as well as a dopaminergic drug. The goals are to identify brain states that are most likely to benefit from therapy.

Requirements:
The candidate will have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience or its equivalent. A background in human research, especially that related to stroke or other neurological disease, is preferred.

Duties and Tasks:
* Collect brain MRI data from trial enrollees

* Perform structural and functional analyses of brain MRI

* Work with Dr. David Shattuck to apply a range of MRI analysis tools to address study aims

* Become familiar with clinical trial procedures

* Contribute to analysis of behavioral data collected in the trial

* Summarize and present findings for in person or virtual discussions

* Lead or assist in the development of manuscripts.

* Lead or assist in the development of additional extra-mural funding

* Complete research as necessary to publish papers

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

* Collaborative, able to work both independently and as part of a team

* Able to prioritize multiple project steps that have competing requirements

* High level of experience in working with human patients having neurological disease

* Experience collecting and analyzing data from patients with neurological disease

* Skill in writing manuscripts
