The Analytical Development and Commercialization – Pharmaceuticals group has a Senior Scientist position available at either the West Point, PA site or the Rahway, NJ site. The Senior Scientist position is a laboratory-based scientific track role in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment. The role is tasked with solving high complexity analytical problems related to the development of formulation and manufacturing process for the commercialization of Merck’s innovative drug products. The responsibility consists of, but not limited to, analytical method development and validation, drug product release testing in support of clinical studies, analytical investigations, product and process characterization, drug product stability studies, specification development, process scale-up and validation support, and preparation of CMC documents for regulatory submission.
Qualifications
Education:
- BS/BA in Chemistry or related discipline with at least 7 years of relevant pharmaceutical development experience or MS in Chemistry or related discipline with at least 5 years of relevant pharmaceutical development experience or PhD in Analytical Chemistry or related discipline with 0-3 years of experience
Required:
- Strong chemistry knowledge
- Demonstrated problem solving ability
- Experience with common analytical techniques such as HPLC
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
- Experience with analytical techniques such as UPLC, UV, IR, Karl Fischer, and dissolution with proven ability in troubleshooting these methodologies
- Experience with method development and validation
- Familiarity with authoring relevant analytical CMC sections of a regulatory submission
