The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine has initiated a national search for a Chief of our dynamic Division of Pediatric Pulmonary Diseases. The anticipated faculty rank will be Associate Professor or Professor. The new division chief will lead the enhancement of clinical programs, research activities, and education at multiple levels.

The division has 6 pediatric pulmonologists, 3 fellows, 3 advanced practice providers, 3 nurses, a research coordinator and other members of the multidisciplinary team. It has an active Cystic Fibrosis Center, Sleep Center and a federally funded Pediatric Pulmonary Center Training Program. It also has a rapidly growing lung transplant program. The outpatient clinics include CF, sleep, severe asthma, neuromuscular disorders, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, a sickle cell disease clinic and trach/vent clinic. The PFT lab in the main outpatient clinic provides impulse oscillometry, exhaled nitric oxide, exercise challenges, cardiopulmonary testing, lung diffusion and plethysmography testing in addition to routine spirometry. Also, methacholine challenges are available routinely. Our webpage may be found at: https://pulmonary.pediatrics.med.ufl.edu/.

The Division of Pediatric Pulmonary Diseases has ranked in the top 40 in the US New and World Report survey for 8 consecutive years, and was ranked 22nd in the nation for 2018-2019. The nationally prominent Shands Hospital for Children at UF is the quaternary-care academic pediatric referral center for North Florida. The Department of Pediatrics has 138 diverse faculty members, 52 pediatric residents, and 37 subspecialty fellows, with outpatient volume over 66,000 in 2018.

The ideal candidate will have excellent clinical skills, strong academic interests, and a vision for developing the division further over the next decade. Candidates must have an MD or DO degree or the equivalent, and be eligible for a medical license in the state of Florida. For more information or to recommend possible candidates, please contact Peter B. Kang, MD, Chair of the Search Committee at pbkang@ufl.edu, or 352-273-8921.  The position posting may also be found at: https://apply.interfolio.com/54527.
