Technician (Ophthalmology), Service Line - Eye & ENT

Introduction

The Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi is proud to have qualified and dedicated Team of Surgeons, Medical, Nursing and Allied professionals within the Service Line Eye and ENT. Using state of the art equipment helps to identify, diagnose and treat Eye and ENT related problems. The department of Ophthalmology offers a variety of surgical treatment procedures like cataract surgery, corneal transplant surgery, glaucoma drainage surgery, mid face reconstruction and cosmetic surgery, squint surgery, retinal detachment surgery. Procedures like cochlear implants, reconstructive surgery post trauma or cancer head and neck surgery are unique to ENT. Based on these specialized procedures, patients are accommodated in the out-patient as well as the in-patient areas. Eye and ENT believes in innovation, exemplary care and access to services for all.

 

Responsibilities

You will be responsible to: 

  • Measure and continuously monitor patient's progress
  • Demonstrate safe handling and proper use of equipments/supplies
  • Report abnormalities immediately to the registered nurse for necessary action to be taken in a timely manner
  • Prepare rooms by assembling all supplies required for the particular session before the clinics starts
  • Perform preliminary eye screening examination and manual keratometry and pachymetry
  • Assist Ophthalmologists in performing laser treatment and physicians in different procedures.

 

Requirements

You should have:  

  • Matriculation (Science-Biology) with Intermediate in any discipline preferably, with Diploma or Certificate as Ophthalmology Technician
  • At least six months' basic training as Technician (applicable for external candidates only)
  • Good knowledge of basic patient care needs 
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to integrate International Patient Safety Goals in patient care
  • Ability to work under pressure.
