Job Details

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Work with the Course or Programme Outcomes and Objectives and content to design and develop online courseware by selecting the most appropriate combination of instructional text, video and assessment tools to maximise the learning potential of students, being it online, tablet or PC based.
  • Identify inefficiencies in the learning teaching space and provide improvement recommendations.
  • Responsible for storyboarding and scripting educational projects (mapping, content and bridging text), delivering a final product.
  • Present scripted educational designs for projects to Course Owner and other stakeholders.
  • Use LMS and other authoring tools to develop Online Learning and Learning artefacts.
  • Responsible to test all instructional/creative e-design products for standard UX and UI before deployment to the distance learning UFS student.
  • Assist with Office and Administration duties as required.
  • Identify opportunities to improve roles and activities.
  • Maintain a functional knowledge of developments in the field of Instructional Design.
  • Understand legislative frameworks and internal policy frameworks for Instructional Design such as plagiarism and guidelines for Distance Education.
  • Plan with a realistic sense of the time and resource demands involved in maintaining awareness of the inter-relationships between own and other activities and/ or projects.


Inherent requirements:
  • Bachelor Degree in Education or other Relevant Tertiary Qualification.
  • Three (3) years' experience in classroom teaching with the integration of technology (If the experience is in Instructional Design the active classroom experience can be reduced).
  • One (1) year related experience and a proven track record of developing a broad range of instructional technology projects with an emphasis on learner experience, usability, user experience, and interface design.
  • A valid driver's licence

  • Ability to understand the unique design requirements of the adult online student.
  • The ability to analyse complex information and present it to a digital audience.
  • Advanced computer skills in MS Word, PowerPoint, Office365, Storyboarding and the use of teleprompter sand green screen technology

Recommendations:
  • Experience in the creation of visual material.
  • Experience in developing Assessment tasks.
  • Work experience in teaching non-residential students of a higher education institution
  • Proven support rendered to a wide audience In the integration of ICT to improve teaching and !earning outcomes
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the purpose, use and population of a LMS system
