The research will be performed within the 304 Physics, Mechanics, and Plasticity research team.
Requirements
- Basic (i.e. Master level) knowledge of the processing of metals and alloys and if possible steels.
- Experience (PhD or post-Doctoral level) in the mechanical behavior of metals and alloys (Plasticity and fracture Mechanics).
- Experience in using the basic tools of material characterization (SEM, TEM, XRD....)
- If possible experience in construction/modification of experimental devices and/or in use of synchrotron radiation.
Duties
- Review of the state-of-the-art in the knowledge of the very high temperature mechanical behaviour
- Define the range of experimental parameters (temperature, stress, strain rate) to study, then the technical specifications of the upgraded HT straining device.
- Oversee the technical realization and the tests of the device.
- Prepare and take part to in situ XRD experiments using the upgraded device.
- During the second year of the postdoc, treatment of the experimental, analysis and publication of the results.
- Upgrade of a high temperature straining device and first in situ tests of the very high temperature mechanical behaviour of cast steels using synchrotron radiation.
