Lecturer in Geomorphology

  • Academic leadership in Geomorphology;
  • Physical Geography academic programme development and regeneration;
  • Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Physical Geography (mainly Geomorphology);
  • Postgraduate supervision of Physical Geography research;
  • Running a productive research programme in Physical Geography (specifically Geomorphology);
  • Publication of research results in accredited journals and presenting results at conferences;
  • Actively participating in all departmental activities and research projects;
  • Academic interaction with the community.

  • MSc in Geomorphology and currently enrolled for a PhD in Geomorphology;
  • Proven competence and experience as a lecturer, postgraduate supervisor and administrator;
  • Evidence of research and scientific publications in Geomorphology-related research applications;
  • Evidence of international and national conference presentations;
  • Excellent communication and language skills in English (knowledge in other South African languages will be an added advantage);
  • Active involvement in the Southern African Association of Geomorphologists.

  • A PhD in Geomorphology;
  • Proven Geomorphology fieldwork and laboratory experience;
  • Competency in Geographic Information Systems and any other Physical Geography sub-disciplines;
  • Potential to secure research funding;
  • Evidence of participation in national and international research cooperation;
  • Competencies in general organisational skills.
