The Department of Business Administration is the biggest department at the School of Business, Economics and Law, and conducts extensive research and is responsible for education programmes at first-cycle and second-cycle levels, as well as third-cycle education in the subject areas of Business Administration and Economic Geography. The Department has more than 150 employees of which 25 are employed doctoral students, and in addition, the Department is responsible for a large number of externally employed doctoral students and international visiting research fellows. The Department is divided into four sections: Industrial and Financial Management & Logistics (IFEL), Management & Organisation, Marketing, and Accounting.

The advertised position as Associate senior lecturer in Economic Geography is hosted by the Management and Organisation section, where advanced research and education is conducted within the subject area. Research in economic geography is here carried out by approximately 10 persons, including doctoral students, lecturers, associate professors and professor. Economic geography is an independent academic subject with educational assignments from basic education to postgraduate level. In addition, representatives of the subject participate in the school's Bachelor programs, as well as within the Master's program "International Business and Trade" at the Graduate School.

Subject Description

The discipline of economic geography focuses on the expansion and movement of economic activities in geographical space, e.g., regional economic transformation, international trade and investment flows, and the internationalization processes of manufacturing and service companies. The call primarily concerns the economic geography of the labour market, in particular the mobility of labour between regions and industries and the economic consequences of mobility.

Main Duties

As stated, the position as associate senior lecturer comprises 50 % teaching and 50 % research. The holder of the employment is expected to conduct research and participate in teaching at all levels in independent courses in economic geography, courses and sub-courses within the Bachelor programs, as well as at the Graduate School. Commissioned education can also be considered. The call primarily concerns the economic geography of the labour market, in particular the mobility of labour between regions and industries and the economic consequences of mobility.

Eligibility

Eligibility for appointment as associate senior lecturer is specified in the Higher Education Ordinance Chapter 4 Section 4a, Appointments Procedure for Teachers at the University of Gothenburg Ref. V 2018/161, and Appointment Regulations for Teaching Staff at the School Of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg Ref. V 2018/224.

To be eligible for appointment as associate senior lecturer, the candidate must hold a doctoral degree or have equivalent scholarly expertise and also have demonstrated teaching expertise. A PhD exam in economic geography or human geography is required to be eligible for this position. Preference should be given to candidates who were awarded their doctoral degree or achieved equivalent competence no more than five years prior to the application deadline for this appointment as associate senior lecturer. Those who have completed their doctoral degree or achieved equivalent competence prior to five years before the application deadline may also be eligible where special grounds exist, i.e. sick leave, parental leave, or similar circumstances.
