Centre for Advanced Imaging

The Centre for Advanced Imaging (CAI) bring together the skills of a critical mass of researches and 'state-of-the-art' research imaging instruments. It is the only facility of its type in Australia, one of only a handful in the world.

The CAI was created in 2009 as a strategic initiative of The University of Queensland (UQ) and reflects the growing role of imaging in cutting-edge biotechnology and biomedical research at UQ.

The role

The successful appointee will lead the advancement and promotion of ultra-high field MRI at UQ, particularly focusing on the human 7T MRI facility at the Centre for Advanced Imaging. In addition to developing and leading independent research projects to enhance the capabilities of the Centre, the Ultra High Field Facility Fellow is expected to provide MR imaging expertise on a collaborative and consultative basis to local and external users of the 7T MRI facility.

The person

Applicants should possess a PhD in the area of magnetic resonance, medical physics or biomedical science and be able to demonstrate expert level knowledge in the area of magnetic resonance imaging. You should have a strong desire to develop a successful and highly-productive research career in this space, exceptional general research skills, a strong methodological background, excellent statistical and analytic skills, very good writing abilities, and the capacity to work with multidisciplinary research teams. You will have extensive experience engaging with university, industry, government and professional bodies to establish positive relationships that promote the field.

Immunisation requirements

It is a condition of employment for this role that if you are required now or in the future, to work or interact in Queensland Health clinical facility; or in an equivalent clinical health facility; or health care role; or will be required to perform work tasks that put you at risk of exposure to vaccine-preventable disease you are required to be immunised against, and remain immunised against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPDs) in accordance with the University's Vaccinations and Immunisation Guidelines (PPL 2.60.08).

It is a condition of employment for this role that you will be required to provide evidence of immunisation against certain vaccine preventable diseases.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, 5-year fixed term appointment at Academic level C or D based on the successful applicant's experience. The remuneration package will be in the range $117,319- $155,627 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $137,263- $182,084p.a.).
