Job Details

We are seeking an enthusiastic and able Research Associate (grade I) or Senior Research Associate (grade J, depending on experience) to work part-time (0.2 FTE/7 hours) to develop an important research registry for people with visual problems due to stroke.

The main responsibility of the post will be to create, maintain and develop the SAVIOR registry (Stroke And Visual Impairment Open Registry) and recruit and test participants with others to populate the registry. This will include setting up a database, obtaining Research Ethics Committee approval, carrying out clinical and psychophysical vision testing, entering data and training others to enter data. More experienced applicants, working at Senior Research Associate level, will have the opportunity be more involved in the design of the registry and the strategy for its development and growth.

The SAVIOR registry will start as a local registry, but if successful has the potential to become a nationally or internationally important resource for researchers.

This is a part time post, but the successful applicant will be encouraged to develop research into visual problems after stroke as part of the Stroke Research Group, University of Bristol, including analysing, writing up and publishing research derived from the data contained within the registry.

The successful applicant will be encouraged to take an active and developing role in the Stroke Research Group and wider University. Depending on experience and success at establishing the registry, it is intended that applicants will also have the opportunity to develop their own research interests within the field of visual problems in stroke and other neurological disorders.
