Job Description

Based at UQ St Lucia as part of the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, the TC Beirne School of Law is the oldest and most prestigious law school in Queensland, and one of Australia's leading research-intensive law schools.

Currently, the School employs 14 professional staff, 50 full-time academic staff and several adjunct professors. The School's talented and committed researchers and educators include national and international scholars, distinguished alumni and leaders of the legal profession who are recognised for their research and teaching excellence both nationally and internationally.

The School boasts world-class, state-of-the-art facilities, including one of Queensland's largest law libraries and the Sir Harry Gibbs Moot Court.

The Role

We're offering three (3) Teaching & Research roles at Academic Levels A to C on a continuing basis.

Commencing Semester 1 2020, our successful applicants will be subject matter experts in, or at least capable of teaching in, the fields of:
  • Equity and Trusts
  • Maritime Law


You'll teach into one or more of our undergraduate core law courses, undertake high quality, original research in your particular field of law and immerse yourself in service and engagement activities in support of the School and wider University community.

The Person

Applicants will have a legal qualification (PhD desirable) or equivalent in a related discipline. You'll demonstrate a commitment to engagement and innovation in teaching and learning and a demonstrated capacity to develop a program of high quality research with the potential for widespread recognition and impact. A demonstrated commitment to service and engagement activities is vital.

For senior appointments, you'll need to further demonstrate a strong publishing record through books, scholarly monographs, articles in reputable refereed law journals, or other high-quality publications.

Remuneration

Level A (Associate Lecturer) - the remuneration package will be in the range $67,542 to $90,982 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of 17% (total package will be in the range $79,024 to $106,448 p.a.).

Level B (Lecturer) - the remuneration package will be in the range $95,771 to $113,728 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of 17% (total package will be in the range $112,052 to $133,061 p.a.).

Level C (Senior Lecturer) - the remuneration package will be in the range $117,319 to $135,276 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of 17% (total package will be in the range $137,263 to $158,272 p.a.).
