School of Veterinary Science

The School of Veterinary Science has a rich history having been founded in 1936 and has a well-deserved reputation for graduating self-reliant, independent and highly capable veterinarians with plenty of initiative and drive. The School has high quality facilities at the UQ Gatton Campus and maintains a clinic at the Dayboro north-west of Brisbane.

The role

The successful applicant will contribute to teaching and diagnostic services in anatomical pathology and support collaborative research projects through provision of specialist anatomical pathology expertise. The applicant will contribute to teaching into undergraduate programs in veterinary science, veterinary technology and science, as well as postgraduate programs and clinical specialty programs. The successful applicant will work with the teaching team in veterinary pathology and infectious diseases, and have a commitment to and enthusiasm for student education. The appointee will contribute to the supervision of graduate students, interns and residents, and develop a research program in an area related to pathology including contributing to and initiating research projects within the School and in strategic collaborations with external agencies. The appointee will provide diagnostic services in anatomical pathology, working with the clinical pathology, microbiology, and parasitology teams, to support the University's veterinary clinics, researchers, and external clients. The successful applicant will assist with the management of the anatomical pathology laboratory, including quality management, research project planning, and staff training.

The person

Applicants should have a degree in Veterinary Science or Veterinary Medicine (or equivalent), registrable in Queensland with a PhD or equivalent advanced clinical training or experience equivalent to a residency. For appointment at level C, eligibility for specialist registration in Queensland or completion of a residency in the area of anatomical pathology is required.

Remuneration

This is a full-time continuing position at Academic level B or C. The remuneration package will be in the range:

Level B: $95,771 - $113,728 p.a. plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $112,052 - $133,062 p.a.)

Level C: $117,319 - $135,276), plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range ($137,263 - $158,273 p.a.)

Selection Process

Please note that Panel Interviews have been scheduled for 19 June 2019 at the Gatton Campus.

As part of the Selection Process, applicants shortlisted for interview will be required to present a seminar and mock lecture to members of the school community prior to their scheduled interview. Research seminars and lecture topics will be provided with adequate notice to shortlisted candidates.
