Abou the Position

The Faculty of Social Sciences is currently seeking four professional and engaged candidates for the position of associate professors in social work. In connection with an emerging generational shift in the scientific staff, the faculty is seeking candidates who are interested in helping the development of research and education in the field of social work.

The faculty requires applicants to have demonstrated a broad and extensive research production record, preferably with emphasis on applied or practice-related research. The faculty is seeking researchers with relevant national and international academic networks in both research and/or education, who will participate in further developing a strong, relevant and productive research and education community at Nord University.

Successful applicants will be affiliated with the faculty's section for Welfare and Social Relations. Affiliation with other faculty sections may be considered if it corresponds appropriately with the research interests of the successful candidate. Both positions include teaching and supervision duties at the faculty's social worker education programs, including: bachelor of child protection, bachelor of social work and master of social science with specialization in social work.

The faculty offers study programs in Vesterålen, in Bodø and in Helgeland. The places of instruction can be changed based on the changed study structure. The office location will be either Bodø or Levanger.

Qualified associate professors can apply for full professor qualifications after they have begun their position.

Qualification Requirements

The position requires skills and qualifications matching the level of associate professor in social work. That is, extensive research production and teaching experience within the field, and preferably social science education at bachelor's and / or master's level. Experience from social work practice will be emphasized. Applicants with education and research experience from adjacent subjects such as psychology, pedagogy, political science, sociology and anthropology will be considered for the positions. The basis for qualification as an associate professor is a level of scientific achievement which, in accordance with international and/or national standards within the subject area, corresponds to a minimum of a PhD degree.

Basic training in university level pedagogics is also a requirement for the position. Applicants who, upon appointment, cannot document basic pedagogical competence must acquire this competence within a two-year period.

Relevant administrative experience and good collaboration skills will also be considered an asset.

The successful applicants to the positions must be able to teach in Norwegian/Scandinavian language within two years of appointment to the position.

Remuneration according to government regulations, position code 1011 associate professor. Salary by agreement.

A mandatory salary deduction is made to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
