Institute for Molecular Bioscience

The University of Queensland's Institute for Molecular Bioscience, located on the main University campus, is Australia's leading biosciences research institute. Established in 2000, the Institute is home to over 420 staff and is located in thriving Brisbane, a city consistently ranked as one of the world's most vibrant and liveable cities.

The Human Studies Unit

The Human Studies Unit supports laboratories within the Institute of Molecular Bioscience, undertaking research into various disorders including motor neuron disease and autism. These laboratories investigate the pattern of disease in individuals and families, to assess the relative importance of genes and environment in a variety of neurological conditions. There are some 50 staff involved in research activities. This position provides organisational and administrative support to several of the projects within the group.

About This Opportunity

In this position, you will provide professional and proficient IT support to human research projects being undertaken at the Institute of Molecular Biosciences.

Day to day responsibilities will include:
  • Development of complete protocols for new projects
  • Custom module code for additional functionality and to control user access
  • Front-end development of public-facing webpages
  • Rapid response updates to implement updates required by clinicians
  • Development of clinical questionnaires in Limesurvey and management of generated data
  • Regular critical security updates
  • Module updates
  • Management of user accounts and data access

This position is located at our picturesque St Lucia campus , renowned as one of Australia's most attractive university campuses, and located just 7km from Brisbane's city centre. Our Ideal Candidate

To be successful, you will be able to demonstrate:
  • At least 2 years of experience working on IT projects, ideally involving human studies.
  • Proficiency using relevant desktop-based programs (MS Word, Excel, Access, desktop publishing and/ or web software).
  • Experience developing web pages.
  • Ability to maintain efficient and up-to-date database systems for research projects.

What We Can Offer

This is a full-time, fixed term position for 12 months at HEW level 5.1. The base salary will be $67,608, plus super of up to 17% and recreation leave loading of 17.5%.
